Missed a phone payment? Steps to take before it gets worse
EzMobile editorial team · Updated
If you may miss a phone payment, contact the provider before the due date and ask what assistance is available. Read the agreement for fees, device restrictions and reporting consequences. Do not assume all phone rentals work alike. Get any revised arrangement in writing; cancelling a debit order does not cancel the underlying obligation.
Contact the provider early
Explain what has changed and what you can realistically pay. Ask for available arrangements without assuming a payment holiday is guaranteed.
Keep a record of the conversation and any written confirmation of a new date or amount.
Read the consequences
Some financed devices may be restricted after missed payments. Charges and credit reporting depend on the provider and agreement.
EzMobile’s demo does not establish a live late-payment, locking or collections policy.
Protect essential spending
Review food, housing, transport and existing debt obligations before agreeing to a new repayment amount. Do not borrow at high cost simply to hide a shortfall.
If several debts are becoming unmanageable, consult a registered debt counsellor through the NCR’s official resources.
